Laboratories

9.4 Tesla MRI facility

9.4 Tesla MRI facility has ~800 square feet of space. The 9.4T/30-cm horizontal bore MRI system is equipped with a BGA-9S gradient insert and various types of RF coils, allowing high resolution structural and functional MRI applications. MR-compatible physiological monitoring systems are available to provide real-time respiratory rate, end-tidal CO2, oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure, rectal temperature, EEG, and ECG recording during experiment.

Photometry Lab

Photometry Lab has ~150 sq. ft. of space dedicated to stereotactic animal surgeries and fiber-photometry experiments. The room has a home-built four-channel multi-spectral fiber-photometry system, one ceiling-mounted surgical LED lamp, two Kopf small animal stereotaxic systems, a Neurostar stereotaxic surgery robot, a stereo-zoom microscope, two isoflurane vaporizers, a small animal ventilator, surgical equipment/supplies, and physiological monitoring equipment used with a computer workstation.

Chemistry Lab

Chemistry Lab has ~200 sq. ft. of space used for fabricating MR-coils electrodes, and optical accessories. This space is equipped with a network analyzer, two oscilloscopes, a RF sweeper, a digital multimeter, a digital oscilloscope, an electrochemical impedance analyzer, an electrochemical cell with electrode mount, a soldering station, a heat gun, a rotary tool kit, two precision DC power supplies, a high-voltage power supply, a LCR meter and other equipment necessary for RF circuit fabrication and measurement. It also has a desktop 3D printer, a 9″ band saw, a 12” drill press and other mechanical tools and various electronic parts such as trimmers capacitors, inductors, diodes, and wires suitable for MR coils fabrications. This lab also houses chemical laboratory synthesis equipment (e.g., centrifuge, stir plates), spectrometer, and space for storing lab chemicals.

Electrophysiology & FVSC Lab

Electrophysiology Lab has ~200 sq. ft. of space for in vivo electrophysiology, fast scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) recordings and electrochemical analyzing. This room is fully EM shielded with an isolated ground. This lab houses a 32-channel Blackrock Cerebus electrophysiology system, an FSCV system and ZIVE electrochemical workstation, each has its own dedicated Faraday cages. Other available equipment includes two isoflurane anesthesia vaporizers, two small animal ventilators, two Kopf small animal stereotaxic systems, three computer workstations, several physiology monitors, and several electrical stimulators/lasers for brain stimulation and optogenetics.

Histology Lab

Histology Lab has ~100 square feet of space used. The space is equipped with ThermoFisher microtome with Freezing Specimen platform, Hacker Industries Model 3 Cryohistomat with closed-circuit cooling system, and Nikon microscope with diachroic EYFP filter.
